January 28, 2014 (Castle Rock, CO)—Douglas County Libraries (DCL) has announced two finalists for its open library director position.

The finalists are:

  • David Farnan, Associate Director of Community Services, Douglas County Libraries (Douglas County, Colo.)
  • Robert Pasicznyuk, Director, Cedar Rapids Public Library (Cedar Rapids, Iowa)

The personnel committee, comprised of four board members and chaired by library trustee Demetria Heath, is directing the process to find and hire a new library director. The committee, including members of DCL’s human resources department and the full board, began a national search for candidates in October. They considered several candidates; four visited Douglas County Libraries for a round of interviews that took place last week.

“The board is committed to finding a dedicated and visionary leader for Douglas County Libraries,” Heath said. “We have great optimism and confidence in the process we will be following.”

The two finalists will undergo further interviews in the next few weeks.

Douglas County Libraries posted the director position in October, 2013, following the retirement of Jamie LaRue, who left the district after 23 years of public service to pursue other interests.
