Paintings by Susan Anderson

Susan Anderson, Artist

Susan Anderson has worked in many media during her career as an artist but is currently focused on watercolors with an occasional side trip into pen and ink. Her favorite subjects are power tools, which result in some unconventional still lives.

"I like my paintings to tell a story. Whether it is the plumbing wrench on trial for the botched repair of the sink or the bragging of the tool belt that it can fix anything, tools can say a lot of things - like size really does matter."

Susan Anderson, Artist

Her work focuses on the nuts and bolts of painting and sometimes the tools do things they weren't exactly designed to do. The irony of painting fire hardened steel in watercolor was a deliberate choice.

Anderson will continue having fun with hardware for the foreseeable future, but there is always the chance that she will become Pythonesque and go for something completely different. Says Susan, "Variety really is the spice of life."

Susan Anderson's art will be on display throughout the month of June.
