Family Storytime – Teaching Green
Be green with an Acres Green teacher at a special family storytime.
Families can stop by the Lone Tree Library (8827 Lone Tree Parkway) on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. to enjoy learning about recycling and other earth friendly green activities. No registration is required.
‘Tis the Season of Giving at Douglas County Libraries
Douglas County Libraries is uniting with Coats for Colorado and the Task Force of Douglas County to provide food and warmth for families this winter.
Throughout the month of November, Douglas County Libraries will gather gently used and new coats for those who need them this winter as part of the Coats for Colorado program. In addition, all library fines collected Nov. 15 - 28 will be donated to the Douglas County Task Force to stock their food bank and feed local families. Those without fines wishing to make a donation may do so during the same time. Checks can be made out to the Task Force of Douglas County. Please bring your used coats or pay your fines at any of our library branches:
In the Kitchen with “Colorado Classique Cookbook”
Visit with members of the Junior League of Denver to discuss their newest cookbook, “Colorado Classique.”
Join us for a fun cooking demonstration and taste-testing at Philip S. Miller Library (100 South Wilcox Street, Castle Rock 80104) on Sunday, November 8 from 2-4pm.
Learn about recipes for life in the Rockies and how the cookbook came to be. Books will be for sale at the even for $29.95. All proceeds benefit the work of the Junior League of Denver.

New Sci-Fi Book Club
Thursday, Nov. 5th at 7 pm
Explore out-of-this-world science fiction and fantasy books at the Philip S. Miller Library with the Science Fiction and Fantasy Book Club. The introductory meeting will be Thursday, November 5th at 7 pm at the Philip S. Miller Library in Castle Rock.

The Making of Our Warrior
On Sunday, November 15th at 2pm at the Highlands Ranch Library there will be a Veteran’s Day presentation on the book The Making of Our Warrior – How SSG Chris Falkel Became a Green Beret Warrior and Hero by author and Gold Star father Jeff Falkel.
The Making of Our Warrior details the life of Staff Sergeant Chris Falkel from, “What made Chris – Chris,” to his military training and service to August 8, 2005, in Mari Ghar, Afghanistan, when SSG Falkel sacrificed his own life while saving those of his team as well as sixteen Afghan National Army Soldiers fighting with them against the Taliban.

Free Concert starring Classical Guitarist Peter Fletcher
It's become an annual tradition in Lone Tree.
The Lone Tree Library joins with The City of Lone Tree and South Suburban Parks and Recreation to present this free concert with classical guitarist Peter Fletcher on Sunday, November 8 at 2 p.m. at the Lone Tree Recreation Center (10249 Ridgegate Circle).
This concert will feature selections from Fletcher's 2008 CD release on Tower Hill Records: Music of the Baroque.

3rd Annual Front Range Art Exhibition
It’s the local art event that’s quickly becoming an annual tradition.
The Greater Castle Rock Art Guild and Douglas County Libraries present the 3rd Annual Front Range Art Exhibition on display at the Philip S. Miller Library (100 S. Wilcox St., Castle Rock) from October 10 through November 10.
Join the artists for a reception and award ceremony on Friday, October 23 after hours at the library from 6-8:30 p.m. Beverages and appetizers will be served.

Castle Pines Library Grand Opening Saturday Sept. 19th--11 to 2p
Celebrate the opening of the Castle Pines Library with the community that made it all possible! Enjoy free, fun-filled activities and entertainment.
Ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 11:15 am.
Located at 7437 Village Square Drive, across from The Barking Goat Tavern and adjacent to The Bundt Shoppe, the celebration will feature entertainment, crafts, music, and a tour of the 2,300 square foot facility.

A Book Club for English Learners
If you’re learning English as a second language, Douglas County Libraries has the book club for you!

The ESL Book Club is for adults who are intermediate to advanced English learners and it meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Philip S. Miller Library.
Join other English learners to read books together, improve reading skills, and work on understanding English. The group will read a new title every 1-2 months.
No registration is required, just stop by.
Share the Love of Reading with Children through Book Start
Share the love of reading with a child! Volunteers go through a two-hour training session which takes place at Philip S. Miller Library, Castle Rock.
After this training the volunteer is ready to be placed in a childcare center. The next session takes place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21. Registration is required.
