Among 210 designated market areas (DMAs), we rank 11th in attending cultural events, with over 21.1% households enjoying these activities.

23.3%, or 335,475 households, regularly participate in golf. We rank 5th with 437,701 households that bicycle, and 24th in camping and hiking, with 620,556 households, placing us 39 and 60 percent more respectively than the rest of the U.S.

In other activities, we rank 2nd in physical fitness and exercise, with over 681,028, or 47.3% of all the households, physically active, and another 236,207 households, or 17.1%, running or jogging on a regular basis.

With all our snow, it shouldn't come as a surprise that we rank 2nd in skiing, with over 342,674, or 23.8% of all households, participating, nor the fact that 191,494 households, or 13.3 percent of us, take part in extreme sports.

We frequent health and natural food stores, with over 398,826 households, or 27.7%, shopping there, and enjoy gourmet cooking and fine foods, with 348,993, or 24.1% of all households, dining on these. We rank 7th among households that listen to records, tapes and CDs, with 767,417, or 53.3%, of us listening, and 187,185, or 13%, owning and enjoying HDTVs. 28.8%, or 414,664 households are active in photography and 287,961, or 20% of us, access the Internet wirelessly.
