DCECC Presents
The Douglas County Early Childhood Coalition presents Early Childhood Adventure: Family Fun Festival!
The event is for the whole family and will be held Saturday, March 3, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at The Wildlife Experience, 10035 S. Peoria St. in Parker. The $1 per person entry fee allows entrance to the event and the museum!
The event will feature arts and crafts, family resources and children's entertainment and games, along with an 11 a.m. Musical Romp with performer Bonnie Phipps, left.
The Magic of Spellbinders
Now is your chance to share your amazing stories with young people and become a Spellbinder!
Spellbinders are adults, 50 and up, who stay young at heart by telling stories to children in Douglas County Schools. By sharing traditional stories and personal history tales, Spellbinders make a difference.
DCL Supports its Military Employees
On November 17, 2011, the Douglas County Libraries Board of Directors
signed an ESGR statement of support, the board’s second formal
acknowledgement of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve since 2009.
Find Adventure at Plains Conservation Center
We are pleased to announce our newest Adventure Pass partner!
Beginning in October, DCL cardholders may reserve one pass per day to Plains Conservation Center, located at 21901 E. Hampden Ave., Aurora. Each day's pass includes six drop-in admissions (reserved/extra-admission events not included).

On Wednesday, September 7, representatives of Douglas County Libraries accepted a generous donation from the City of Castle Pines and publicly thanked the city for its support of Castle Pines Library.
Castle Pines Mayor Jeff Huff presented a check for $25,000 to Douglas County Libraries Board President Amy Hunt, and Hunt, in turn, presented Huff and the city with a commemorative plaque recognizing the gift.
A community reference project from DCL
Higher Education in Douglas County: An economic and market assessment
Douglas County Libraries recently began the community reference project to address questions that may be vital to the long-term health of our communities. The first issue they tackled was that of the need for and potential impact of higher education in Douglas County.
Staff librarians conducted surveys, interviews, and other research, and compiled their findings into a focused response to the issue. They discovered that:

Share the love of reading with a child! Volunteers get two-hours of specialized training at Philip S. Miller Library, Castle Rock, and are placed with local childcare centers and begin reading! Training is held from 9:30 a.m. to Noon, the third Wednesday of each month.

The Town of Castle Rock and Douglas County Libraries partner to bring cultural performances and demonstrations to the Philip S. Miller Library Castle Rock Community Bandstand.
Book the bandstand here and at the Philip S. Miller Library at 100 S. Wilcox St., Town Hall at 100 N. Wilcox St., and the Castle Rock Recreation Center at 2301 N. Woodlands Blvd.
