Buying ebooks from Bilbary

The ebook frontier is still wild and untamed. Did you know that publishing giants Macmillan and Simon & Schuster won't sell ebooks to libraries at all? Three of the other so-called Big Six (HarperCollins, Random House, and Penguin) impose a host of new restrictions that make ebooks far pricier than paper. That's a business problem for libraries - and for our patrons.

But we're pleased to offer a new option. If you can't find the ebooks you want from us, buy them from Bilbary.

Why? Because Bilbary is sharing 50% of the sale with the Douglas County Libraries. We offer this service as a customer convenience. It’s still not as handy as borrowing ebooks, but at least it makes them available to you. The money that comes back to us will be used to buy more of what many other publishers ARE willing to sell to us.

Please note, Bilbary is an independent, for-profit organization. When you go to the Bilbary site, you are no longer within the Douglas County Libraries domain.
