Catalog ePub/PDF – iOS Devices

Using iOS devices (iPhone/iPad/Itouch), you can enjoy titles from Douglas County Libraries. Just search the website, either via your iOS device or a computer, then check out and download the title(s) you wish.

What you need

  • An iOS device (iPhone/iPad/iTouch)
  • Access to douglascountylibraries.org
  • Your library card number and pin number (usually the last 4 digits of your telephone Number)

How it Works

1. Install software

You will need an eReader (such as iDCL or Bluefire) to download your titles to.

Go to the App Store.

Search for eReader.

Choose an App, click free, click Install, enter your Apple id.

You will need to authorize your device with an Adobe ID.

2. Browse, check out, download

You can browse Douglas County Libraries’ website, at douglascountylibraries.org, either on your computer or your iOS device. Under "Featured Publishers", you will find a list of all the publishers that have eBooks with Douglas County Libraries, not associated with OverDrive.  You may also find eBooks listed in the catalog, designated as "Available Online".

When you see a book you would like, click the “Checkout” button; it will then ask you for your library card number and password if you are not already logged in.  From your list of "eContent, Checked Out Items", click "Download".  This will open a screen that will ask you where you want to open your eBook.  Choose your eBook reader. Click "open" in device. This will open your eBook reader, your eBook will download and you will be asked if you would like to read the book now or later. Click "read now" and your loan will be verified. Open the eBook.

3. Enjoy

You will be able to read your eBook from your Ebook reader for the duration of its checkout period.

You may not renew an item, but it may be able to be checked out again after your loan has ended, if no one else is waiting for the eBook.  You may also place that eBook on hold.

4. Returning material early

You can access your library account to find what eBooks you have checked out and then click on the option to “Return Now”.  You will get a message to confirm this is what you want to do.

Sometimes you will get a message that says “Please return this title from your digital reader.”  If that is the case, open Adobe Digital Editions from your desktop.  It is a brown colored logo with an open book in the center.  Make sure you are open to the correct view by clicking on the logo that looks like three books standing on a shelf near the top of the screen.  Look for the book you want to return on the list of titles.  Mouse to the front of the title until you see an arrow. Click on the arrow and “Return Borrowed Item” appears as an option.  Click on it, confirm, and the book will disappear.
