Searching for Family History?

Douglas County Libraries (DCL) is now an affiliate of FamilySearch.org.  What does this mean to you?  You can now order microfilm or microfiche from FamilySearch™ Online film ordering service and have it delivered to Douglas County Libraries via the Douglas County Historical Research Center.

There is a collection of two and a half million rolls of microfilm that available and distributed over 4,600 family history centers worldwide. Now that DCL is an affiliate, and one of those centers, there will no longer be a need to travel long distances to view the records you've been seeking.

How to order film and have it delivered to DCL:
Microfilm and microfiche loans are ordered and paid for online at https://familysearch.org/films/. Microfilm may be ordered for a nominal fee of $7.50. You will need to sign in or create a user account for FamilySearch to proceed.

You will want to begin your search using the FamilySearch Catalog.  Input your search terms and begin your search. When you find your information, go to the bottom of the page to the “Film Notes” section. Click on the microfilm number and you will arrive at an ordering page. During that process you will be asked where you want your microfilm delivered. Clicking on the find link, you will then be able to follow the steps to choose Douglas County Libraries as your default history center. All your orders will be sent to DCL. Once the film arrives, you may view it using the microfilm reader at the Douglas County History Research Center (DCHRC) inside DCL’s Philip S. Miller Branch in Castle Rock (100 S. Wilcox St.).
