Early Literacy Skills

Print motivation, or the enjoyment of and interest in books, is an early literacy skill children develop before learning to read. After all, if children don’t learn to like books, they won’t enjoy the reading process. Truly fun picture books don’t usually have a message, but Grumpy Pants by Claire Messer helps children learn to cope with their fleeting emotions. Preschoolers will giggle as Penguin tries to shed his grumpiness along with his clothes.
