Early Literacy Skills

Phonological awareness is the ability to hear and play with smaller sounds in words. To develop this early literacy skill, children need to sing songs, do fingerplays and listen to stories that rhyme. One new book that reinforces rhyming as well as counting is Emily Gravett’s Bear & Hare: Where’s Bear? This charming book shows two friends playing hide and seek and is a perfect read-aloud for your toddler.
