Today, the Deputy Mayor and Manager of Public Works for the City and County of Denver, Mr. Vidal was born in Cuba. As a young boy, he had touched Castro's hand as he passed triumphantly through Vidal's home town, fresh from his overthrowing of the Batista regime. Vidal's book, Boxing for Cuba, recounts his emigration from Cuba with his twin older brothers as part of the Pedro Pan project -- in which he arrived in Miami, only to be relocated to an orphanage in Pueblo, Colorado.
